Doug, I have never operated a 7308 loader but I would beleive that control wise the all should be very similar. If it is a single lever control then moving the lever either left or right would dump the bucket, the opposite direction would curl the bucket back up. I have no knowledge of a fast dump position, although it may exhist, maybe one of the other readers can help you on that one. When you are trying to back drag, are you pushing the lever to far forward, past the detent, and into the float position ? Hope this helps you.

Craig, To make and install a set of skis, could you take a short length of pipe of the right diameter, weld them to your plow blade and then pick up a set of regular round footed snow plow shoes. Slide the shoe shaft up into the pipe and set the pin in place. I would think that if you took a look at a regular modern Fisher or Myers blade you could get the dimensions of the parts you would need and basically recreate what they have done for there shoes. Kevin, I had a chance to watch the video I was sent on the Billygoat Outback and I have to say that if I were in the market for such a machine I would have to give it a serious look. The video shows it to be quite a rugged mower with a well thought out design, they even show a guy mowing over a cement block with nothing but small chunks of concrete left in it's path. I am sure the blades were consideribly duller. The handle bar design appears to be well reinforced but only down low, no supports and braces up high were the handles would take a lot of twisting and abuse, and as I recall I even had to tighten the handlebars on the DR when I rented it because they were loose. The Outback with the 11 HP Honda electric start engine was listed at $2330 Mark

Roger, I couldn't agree more. Nice Seat, I am very happy with it. I even saved my old seat so I could put it back on for the winter. I figured that way I wouldn't sit my but down on cold vinyl, cracking it and wrecking my new seat. Mark

Webmaster, As of this morning the hyper link opens up a full window & the window icon opens up the small window. I personally liked it the way it was before everybody started complaining. Now it is confusing (until I get used to it) and it makes a lot more work for you. The way it was, was fine!! You clicked the hyper link and it opened the post so you could read it, OK so it only opens up in a small size. How much effort does it really take for a reader to click on the enlarge button if they want it in full screen. PaLease !!!! What do you people want next, somebody to read the post to you ? Give the webmaster a break so he can have time to play/work with his own tractor. This is just one tractor owners opinion. Mark

Todd, I have to side with Roger on this one. Although my knowledge of diesels is limited, I do know that with common sense and routine maintenance diesel engines will out live and out perform all others. I just recently bought a 1988 JD 950 T/L/B with 2010 hours on it and it seems to be as strong, smooth and as tight as the day it was made. Good luck & Happy tractoring. Mark

Tim, Check out the Web Site "All Makes Tractor Tips" The link is enclosed below. You can atleast see what the specs are for the 2910. 37 HP at the PTO, 3 cylinder Ford diesel with 175 cubic inch displacement ETC. Hope this helps.

I took out a rider that fits in with my exhisting Company Commercial Liability policy. It covers my tractor for fire, theft, accident etc etc. Whether it be in my yard, while traveling over the road or while in use on somebody elses property, in case I fall into there septic tank or back into ther house or car or Whatever ! the rider alone is about $300 per year. Well worth the money if your going to be using your tractor for commercial use. All it takes is one little mishap and that $300 will look like small change. Mark

Rick, My tractor knowledge is somewhat limited because I am fairly new the the world of Compact Tractors. But I believe that when you see mention of a 4 n 1 bucket, what they are talking about is a special type multi use bucket that can work as a regular bucket as well as a dozer blade and a clam shell type bucket for picking things up in its jaw. I am not really sure what the forth tool would be. There are guys out there who have them that can answer this better then I. Hope this helps. Mark

Thanks Guys for the input. As I said , I am trying to think and prepare for next winter. My JD 950 T/L/B does have turf tires on the rear, they are the narrower style by Galaxy (I think there more for gold courses) and the front (new)tires are a decent, but mild snow tread. At this point I am not even sure if I am going to need chains. I have a very large open front yard,with a big tear drop drive. My landlord actually plows my drive as part of the rent but they never really push the snow back. I Don't Like Snow Banks!! After awhile your driveway looks like a Cow Path and you get that snowed in feeling. And with absolutley nothing in my yard to hurt. Why Not! Push em back to the tree line. Yes! This is (one) of my Pet Peeve's. Most of the time I will be just pushing back snow banks rather then plowing the whole drive. I have an old Fisher blade I am going to doctor up. But snow banks can get pretty tough when they set up. I have enough auto tire chains I can build the fronts out of. I just didn't want to spend the money for rear chains just to find out that, for what I am doing, I really didn't need chains. Yankee Frugality!! Or as a friend of mine put it. Loryn, I checked the web site WWW.tractortips.com and all they said was that the 234 was made between 1982 and 1984 with a 3 cyl, diesel 18 HP engine and a 6/2 transmission. Sorry I could not be of more help. Good luck, Mark

I have a question on the use of tire chains. Does anybody know where you can or can't put tire chains. Common sense tells me that it is OK to put chains on all 4 tires and / or chains on just the rear tires. So what I am trying to learn is. Is it acceptable and safe to put chains on just the front tires ? Or will this create problems for the tractor. I am thinking ahead for Winter. YECH !! Thanks, Mark

I haven't owned my tractor long enough to have much experience with a ROPS and I really don't want the day to come where I can see just how well it will work. Thinking back many years to the tractors I grew up on and around, 8N's, Farmalls C's, John Deere B's and we had one newer International with a Sims open cab. I don't think myself or my Father ever gave much thought to a roll over type accident. Of course I was only a young boy who just thought it was great to be able to operate the tractors. I will say that having a ROPS and knowing it is there gives me the same feeling of comfort as wearing my helmet while mountain biking. Neither a helmet or a ROPS is an excuse to disregard common sense and safety, but it is a comfort knowing that if the Defication hits the Rotary Oscillater, I will stand a better chance of survival. walt, I know nothing about Kioti tractor and didn't even know that anybody had a PTO that could work both ways. It kind of sounds like a sensor or a switch that is wired backwards. Good luck. Mark
